IPROCH organized a three day Odissi Music Festival, 2012 in collaboration with Directorate of Film Festival, M/O Culture, Govt. of India from 27th -29th April, 2012 at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. The programme was duly recommended by the Sangeet Natak Academy, National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama, Rabindra Bhawan, Feroze Shah Road, New Delhi for the approval of the Central Govt. to ensure its participation and collaboration. The event showcased a number of workshops, lecture demonstrations and performances by eminent Gurus and exponents of Odissi Classical Music. Among the Gurus and acknowledged exponents were, Sunanda Pattnaik,Guru Gopal Panda, Guru Maheswar Rao, Guru Ramahari Das etc, along with thirty odd participants drawn from all over Odisha.The performances brought out the unique flavor and singing styles of Odissi Raagas,its distinct Taalas on Pakhawaj and Mardala as compared to Hindusthani and Carnataki styles.Some Raagas which were somewhat common to all three styles were presented on the stage by three different artistes performing the same Raaga in three different styles under a presentation we called“Tribeni”. The discerning listeners of Classical music, music connoisseurs, critics and writers besides general music lovers responded overwhelmingly.
